Gospel Fest 2010

On Saturday, March 20th we will be proud to present an evening of gospel entertainment. The event will be held at the Pontiac Township High School Auditorium and will start at 5:30 p.m with Brian Free and Assurance. Fans have voted Brian Free 'favorite male singer' and 'Favorite Tenor' a record eight times. Their album "4 God So Loved" was named favorite album and most recently they received a Dove Award for their song "Long As I Got King Jesus". Following Brian Free and Assurance, we are very excited to welcome back Grammy Nominated Southern Gospel group Karen Peck and New River.

Tickets for this event are priced at $15.00 in advance and $18.00 at the door. We are also offering a "Family Ticket" for $50.00 which will allow you to bring the entire family (up to 7 members) to enjoy the show. Seating is limited so be sure to purchase your tickets early! Remember, all proceeds from this event will benefit our food pantry!

Small Group Opportunity!

Beginning on Tuesday, February 16 at 10:00 am, Karen Meister will begin leading a 5 week Bible study by Joyce Meyer called "Choices - Having Peace and Joy in Your Everyday Life". Through this Bible study you will explore how your thoughts, words, emotions, prayer and love walk effect your daily life, your relationship with God and with others.

This group will meet from Feb. 16 - March 16 at 10:00 am on Tuesday mornings. If you are interested in joing this group, there will be a sign up sheet in the Narthex.

February Potluck

The February potluck dinner will be held on Wednesday, February 24 at 5:30 pm. The main dish will be prepared at the church. Table service and drinks will be provided. Everyone is asked to bring a side dish or a dessert to share. Please make plans to join us for this time of family fun and fellowship.

Ash Wednesday Service

We encourage everyone to join us at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, February 17th for a special time of reflection as we enter the Holy season of Lent.

Newsletter Deadline

All articles for the March edition of our newsletter must be submitted to the church office no later than Wednesday, February 17th. You may submit your items by phone (842-4321), by fax (844-6943) by e-mail: rhonda@fbcpontiac.org  or by leaving them in the black box outside the church office door.

Food Pantry Needs

Over the past few months our food pantry has been very busy serving an ever increasing number of needy families. We served a total of 122 needy families in our food pantry during the month of December. As the number of needy families continues to grow, we need the continued support of our church family in order to effectively continue this vitally important community ministry.

If you would like to help us we especially need donations of the following items: tuna, instant potatoes, canned vegetables, peanut butter, jelly, spaghetti sauce, macaroni & cheese, canned soups and cereal.

If you would like to make a donation, you may bring it to the church with you and leave it in the kitchen on Sunday morning. You may also drop it by the church anytime during regular office hours.

Of course, monetary donations are always welcome. Just be sure to mark your check "food pantry" and drop it in the offering plate.

Sweets For Your Valentine!

Our Relay for Life team is once again selling cookies and brownies for Valentine's Day. For a donation to Relay for Life, you will have your choice of chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal cookies or a brownie. Order sheets will be available in the Narthex on Sunday mornings and your orders can be picked up on Sunday, February 14th.
